NVQ 3 Early Years Childcare and Education

NVQ 3 in Early Years Childcare and Education is a nationally recognized qualification in all areas of Early Years and can be taken gradually while working. The assessment centre will be local and the assessor will visit the home setting to ensure your work reaches certain levels of competence.

The course consists of eleven mandatory units:

  • Contribute to the protection of children from abuse
  • Establish and maintain relationships with parents
  • Observe and asses the development and behaviour of children
  • Plan and Equip environments for children
  • Plan, implement and evaluate learning activities and experiences
  • Promote children’s language and communication development
  • Promote children’s sensory and intellectual development
  • Promote children’s social and emotional development
  • Promote the physical development of children
  • Provide a framework for the management of behaviour
  • Provide for children’s Physical needs.

There are also three units to be chosen from the list below:

  • Care for and promote the development of babies
  • Create effective working relationships
  • Develop structured programes for children with special needs
  • Establish and maintain a childcare education service
  • Inform and implement management committee policies and procedures
  • Involve parents in group activities
  • Manage admissions, finance and operating systems in care and education settings
  • Manage yourself
  • Plan, implement and evaluate routines for children
  • Promote the care and education of children with special needs
  • Support parents in developing their parenting skills
  • Support the development of children’s literacy skills
  • Support the development of children’s mathematical skills
  • Visit and support a family in their own home
  • Work with other professionals
  • This is a total of fourteen units.
